Dans un Liban où la bataille des récits fait rage, où rendre compte de façon informationnelle du réel relève d’une mission de plus en plus impossible tant le paysage médiatique est polarisé, fragmenté et soumis à de multiples ingérences, que peut la fiction ? Qu’est-ce que les œuvres dramatiques présentées au festival Off Avignon racontent du Liban d’hier et d’aujourd’hui ? Quelle autre vérité la parole artistique peut-elle faire entendre ?

Lebanon: what stories can be told in the face of war?

In a Lebanon where the battle over narratives rages on, and where providing an objective account of reality is becoming an increasingly impossible task given how polarised, fragmented and subject to multiple forms of interference the media landscape has become, what role can fiction play? What do the plays presented at the festival Off reveal about Lebanon, both past and present? What other truth can artistic expression bring to light?
